What is Road Tripping PT

Road Tripping PT is our lifestyle. We travel the country as physical therapists, literally every corner and have moved from CA->AK->LA->CA->MA->CA->TX->ME->CA->ID->HI->CA

Why did we create this website?

We wanted to share our travels with others and be a resource for those looking for fun and adventure! It doesn’t matter if you are a physical therapist, nurse, or any other type of allied healthcare worker, as long as you travel, we want to help!

We love what we do for a living as physical therapists, but our passion is travel.

For The Traveling Healthcare Worker

  • How do you begin your career as a traveler?

  • Is it possble to travel as a pair?

  • How do you find housing?

  • What is a tax home?

  • How many recruiters should I use?

  • Can I travel with a pet?

We have worked 12 contracts in 8 different states as a traveling pair and will be continuing to add and update our blog to answer as many questions as we can!

Some of our highlights while traveling as physical therapists...

  • Driving the entire Alaskan Highway

  • Hiking Half Dome

  • Lived in Maine and hiked the tallest peak Katahdin

  • Lived in Hawaii (Maui) for 3 months!

  • Able to take off nearly an entire summer for family adventures!

If you got this far, it's time to check out the blog!

Tyler

Tyler has his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University and has been practicing since 2016 with an initial passion for outpatient orthopedics, but an openness to any setting which has allowed him to succeed in travel therapy. Recently he has found inpatient very rewarding and enjoys the occasional SNF as well. Aside from work, fitness and health are a major passion of his. With a recent diagnosis of celiac disease, and being a picky eater prior to this, you can say he isn’t a “foodie”. However, finding local bakeries during his travel adventures has led to finding some amazing gluten free options. Currently the main author and creator of this blog and its content, he attempts to put into words the adventures that Kari plans.

Kari

Kari has her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Loma Linda University and attended and graduated in the same class as Tyler. She has found her niche and has fallen in love with working with pediatric patients from all over the country in her travels. While she enjoys all settings, most of her 6 1/2 years of practicing has been working with pediatrics and has allowed her to truly progress her skills as a therapist. While Tyler writes most of the content, nearly all adventures taken have been planned by Kari, the mastermind of our destinations. She is also in charge of organizing all our photos, and creating photo albums of our travels.

Spencer

Spencer is a 7# Yorkie who is now reaching older age at 11 years old and born on January 1st 2012. A New Years baby. He takes all travel assignments in stride and never lets his small size hold him back. He has trekked a 15 mile hike in Alaska (carried for 12 of the miles, though we don’t bring that up to him) hiked across a frozen lake for 3 miles to see Portage Glacier, survived a copperhead snake bite in Louisiana, kayaked in Oklahoma, and endured a winter in central Maine. Truly a traveling wunder dog, who shows no signs of aging. His favorite sayings are “I’ve already been there!” and “take me with you”.
